Keeping your system up to date ensures you have access to all the new features, music services, and player updates that Sonos releases. When a new software update is available for your Sonos system, you will be prompted to update with an “Update Now” button on all of your Sonos controllers. Simply click the “Update Now” button to begin the update process.

To check for updates manually:

Sonos App for iOS or Android
Open the Sonos app. From the More tab, tap Settings > Online Updates.

Sonos Desktop Controller for Mac or PC
From the Sonos menu (Mac), or Manage menu (PC), click Check for Updates.

To disable Sonos Updates:

Opting not to update means you cannot add speakers, services or voice assistants to your Sonos system and that you will not receive new features or security patches.

If any smart devices in your home have the Sonos app installed on them, you will need to disable auto-updates on them to ensure they do not update to the latest version. If the Sonos app is accidentally updated, then your Sonos system will also need to be updated in order to work with that device again. It is not possible to remove an update or downgrade your Sonos system.

Open the Sonos app. From the More tab, tap Settings > Advanced Settings > and toggle Auto Check for Updates to off.

Sonos Desktop Controller for Mac or PC
From the Sonos menu (Mac), or Manage menu (PC), go to Settings > Advanced and uncheck the box for System Updates.
